Replacing Your Wheelchair Battery
- Work on a dry, level surface such as a garage floor
- Locate and open the battery compartment. This is usually underneath the seat.
- Wheelchair batteries usually have nut & bolt terminals. You will need a wrench to loosen the connectors.
- Disconnect negative (black) terminal first, then positive (red) terminal.
- Remove batteries. These are heavy so ask for help if needed.
- Insert new batteries. Attach positive (red) terminal, then negative (black) terminal. Use wrench to ensure connections are snug.
- Close battery compartment and replace any other disassembled pieces.
- Recycle old battery.
