As long as the voltage, terminals and dimensions match, then you will be able to use this as a compatible battery replacement option.
What Is Ah And Battery Capacity?
Ah is short for Amp Hour, a technical term for how much energy a battery will store.
Batteries with higher Ah values are able to last longer between charges. The higher the number, the more energy a battery can store.
What Is mAh And Battery Capacity?
mAh is short for Milliamp Hour, a technical term for how much energy a battery will store.
Batteries with higher mAh values are able to last longer between charges. The higher the number, the more energy a battery can store.
Does My Replacement Battery Capacity (Ah) Have To Be The Same As My Original? How Do I Choose?
Where physical dimensions allow it, you can upgrade to a higher Amperage battery.
For example, a device using a 12V 7.2Ah can use a 12V 9Ah battery as a replacement to provide longer run time. The voltage and the dimensons of the battery must be the same, but the Ah does not have to be the same. In our example, a 12V 7.2Ah can be replaced by a 12V 9Ah for longer run time, but the battery must be 12V.
How Do You Connect A Battery In Series Or Parallel?
You may connect your SLA battery in series or parallel.
Connecting your SLA batteries in series will generate a higher voltage. For example, connecting two 12 Volt 18Ah batteries in series will provide you with an output of 24 Volts and 18Ah capacity.
Connecting your SLA batteries in parallel will generate a higher capacity. For example, connecting two 12 Volt 18Ah batteries in parallel will provide you with an output of 12 Volts and 36Ah capacity.
May I Purchase By A Pack Of Two Batteries?
All of our batteries are sold separately, so if you need 2 batteries for a full replacement you will need to purchase 2 batteries.
What Batteries Do You Accept For Recycling?
We accept sealed lead acid batteries — SLA, VRLA, and AGM types — for recycling. To send batteries in, package them securely so they can't leak or shift during shipping, label the outside of the package "RECYCLE BATTERY," and ship to:

For full details, see our Battery Recycling page.
What Is CCA?
CCA is a rating that defines a battery’s ability to start an engine in cold temperatures. The rating refers to the number of amps a 12-volt battery can deliver at 0°F for 30 seconds while maintaining a voltage of at least 7.2 volts per cell. The higher the CCA rating, the greater the starting power in the battery.
Sealed Lead Acid (SLA/AGM/VRLA) Batteries
What Is A Sealed Lead Acid (SLA/AGM/VRLA) Battery?
A Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) battery, also known as VRLA, Valve Regulated Lead Acid battery, has the following attributes: maintenance-free, leak-proof, and not sensitive to positioning. SLA batteries are equipped with a safety vent to release gas in the event of too much internal pressure.
SLA batteries are used in many applications, such as a UPS backup systems, mobility scooters, wheelchairs, alarm sytems, generators, spotlights, workout equipment, generators, motorcycles, ATV's, toys, and much more.
What Is The Shelf Life Of A Sealed Lead Acid Battery?
SLA batteries naturally discharge over time. If it is not charged periodically, the battery’s full capacity may not be reached again.
SLA batteries self-discharge at a rate of around 3% a month. We recommend checking on and charging SLA batteries at least every two months.
Never store an SLA battery longer than six months without recharging it. Always store batteries in a cool, dry place. Generally, a battery can last 6 months to 1 year on a shelf with mild temperatures.
My Sealed Lead Acid Battery Is Bloated Or Swollen. What Should I Do?
Immediately remove the swollen battery from the equipment it is in. A battery expands due to overcharging. High rates of overcharging will cause a battery to heat up. It accepts more current as it heats up, heating it up even more. This cycle of overheating is called thermal runway and it is able to destroy a battery fairly quickly, sometimes in only a few hours. Heat that causes the battery to swell.
The battery is not usable. Recycle it a local battery recycling facility. This battery needs to be replaced immediately.
How Long Do SLA Batteries (SLA/AGM/VRLA) Typically Last?
The majority of SLA/AGM/VRLA batteries last anywhere from three to five years, depending on things like applications, charging method, and operating temperature. Most SLA batteries last 300-500 cycles.
Charge your battery before storage. Never store an SLA battery in a partially charged or discharged state. This will likely permanently damage the battery.
What Is The Difference Between A Gel Cell, an AGM and an SLA Battery?
A gel cell or gelled electrolyte is a sealed battery containing semi-solid electrolyte and may also be identified as a sealed lead acid.
AGM(absorbed glass mat) or VRLA type battery. AGM batteries are sometimes referred to as starved electrolyte because the fiberglass mat contained within the cell is saturated only 95% with acid and there is no excess liquid. Nearly all AGM batteries are VRLA or valve regulated. VRLA batteries are designed with a valve that allows the battery to keep a slight positive pressure.
Are The Sealed Lead Acid Batteries That You Sell Rechargeable?
Yes, all SLA batteries that we sell are rechargeable.
What is the difference between F1 and F2 Battery Terminals?
The difference between F1 and F2 battery terminals is their width. F1 terminals are 0.187 inches wide, while F2 terminals are 0.250 inches wide. This means that F2 terminals are 1/16 inch wider than F1 terminals.
Other than their width, F1 and F2 terminals are identical. They are both flat, blade-type terminals that are typically used on sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries. SLA batteries are commonly used in a variety of applications, including UPS systems, medical mobility wheelchairs, ride-on toys, and scooters.
F1 terminals are more commonly used on general-purpose batteries, while F2 terminals are more commonly used on high-rate discharge batteries. This is because F2 terminals are able to handle higher currents.
If you need to connect an F1 terminal to an F2 terminal, or vice versa, there are adapters available that can be used.
Charging
How Do I Charge My Sealed Lead Acid Battery?
To be kept on a charge continuously a "float" charge is needed. A float charger will deliver a lower voltage charge (2-v range) consistently and will can help keep a SLA battery in good working condition for long periods of time.
At a full 12-14v charge, the charger needs to be removed as soon as the battery is charged or the plates can become corroded and a battery can be ruined in days or weeks. Unregulated Transformer-Based Chargers, should be removed right away after a full charge is achieved.
For a float charge a more sophisticated charger is needed. If a unit is being unused for an extended period of time it should be stored in a cool place with a float charge on it.
The charge of the battery should be constantly monitored, making sure it is never fully discharged, and charged periodically with the charger being removed as soon as a full charge is reached.
How Do I Charge My UPS Battery?
Some UPS units need to be unplugged, completely powered down and have their battery disconnected.
How Often Should I Charge my Powersport Motorcycle, ATV/UTV, Snowmobile and Personal Watercraft battery?
It is best for all types of lead acid batteries to be maintained in a fully charged condition. If you have not done this, you should charge your battery at a minimum every 30 days. You might consider getting a smart charger to maintain your battery all the time.
Can I Use My Automotive Battery Charger To Charge My Small Lead Acid Battery?
Do not use an automotive battery charger to charge small sealed lead acid batteries. Car battery chargers are designed to work with big SLI batteries and charge at a high amperage. For small batteries like 6V 5Ah or 12V 9Ah this will be too much amperage. Although it will charge the battery, it will significantly reduce the life time of the battery and will likely cause permanent damage to the battery.
To charge small sealed lead acid batteries, buy a sealed lead acid battery charger that charges small SLA batteries at approximately 1A. A trickle charger is perfect for sealed lead acid batteries, it a slow charger but will ensure a long life time for your battery.
My Alarm Shows Low Battery
With some alarm systems, it can take up to forty-eight hours after installing the battery for the low battery warning to clear.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Does Sealed Lead Acid (SLA/AGM/VRLA) Battery Require Maintenance?
If maintained properly a sealed lead acid battery will last up to 5 years.
However just one extended discharge can render an SLA battery useless. Even a near deep discharge can greatly reduce the amount of charge a battery will ever be able to retain. An SLA should never be fully discharged, as the battery does not need to be periodically discharged in order to maintain its performance, in fact, it is best kept in a fully charged state at all times.
SLA batteries can also be damaged by overcharging. A charger should be removed as soon as the battery has reached its full charge. They should be stored in a cool place when not in use, and can be damaged if stored in a hot area for an extended period of time.

Never fully discharge an SLA battery, this will shorten or completely end its life cycle.
Do I Need To Add Water To My Battery?
No. Our AJC sealed lead acid batteries are maintenance free, sealed at the factory and never require you to add water.
What Can Cause A New Battery To Fail After Installation?
- Battery terminals are dirty or not properly connected
- Electrical capacity of the battery is insufficient for size of the vehicle
- A short circuit in the electrical system
- A faulty charging system
- Excessive ignition off drains or high parasitic drains
- The battery has been inadequately activated, dissipating its strength from the outset
- The battery, after being filled with acid has been left too long without initial charging, and has been allowed to become sulfated
What Might Have Caused My Battery To Fail?
It may have been under-charged or over-charged. Check your charging device periodically to ensure it is working properly. Also, make certain you are using the right chemistry for your application.
