Wheelchair Battery Replacement

Replacing Your Wheelchair Battery

  1. Work on a dry, level surface such as a garage floor
  2. Locate and open the battery compartment. This is usually underneath the seat.
  3. Wheelchair batteries usually have nut & bolt terminals. You will need a wrench to loosen the connectors.
  4. Disconnect negative (black) terminal first, then positive (red) terminal.
  5. Remove batteries. These are heavy so ask for help if needed.
  6. Insert new batteries. Attach positive (red) terminal, then negative (black) terminal. Use wrench to ensure connections are snug.
  7. Close battery compartment and replace any other disassembled pieces.
  8. Recycle old battery.
